another ? about VLC & wma

i tried open email wma file. computer using parallel windows 7. tried open windows when clicked on wma file. researched around , found needed vlc app open wma on mac. when click on wma file, still tries open windows. question how mac try use vlc first instead of windows program? wanting vlc automatically open , open file. have not found setting this. appreciate forum has given me try use mac , set work way want. please remember if answer me newbie mac. thx

1. right-click on .wma file in finder
2. click "get info"
3. under "open with", select vlc
4. click "change all"
