right. imac refurb. bought in winter of 2010. specs follows:
processor: 3.06 ghz intel core i3.
memory: 4 gb 1333 mhz ddr3.
graphics: ati radeon hd 4670 256 mb.
software: mac os x lion 10.7.3 (11d50b) - upgraded snow leopard couple of months ago.
machine worked, , still works, fine in every way except sound. sometime in first months of owning it, terrible happened no apparent reason , audio coming - internal speakers, through headphones or external speakers , through programme, youtube , cds , spotify, not itunes - dreadful sounding. flat , drab, no flair , horrible, distorted, boomy bass. i'd heard better sounds coming toilets @ mcdonalds. after quite few months of jiggling around doing nothing, discovered problem characterised massive amount of aliasing - is, computers filter non operational (found out doing test: http://www.audiocheck.net/audiotests_aliasing.php).
managed return sound quality much, more pleasant installing lion via app store. music sounded nicer me girlfriend - producer , has sharp ears - noticed mid range frequencies being replicated higher considered 'normal'. didn't matter me music sounded pretty good.
then, yesterday, new problem occurred. knew moment changed volume , heard little 'popping' sound amiss. didn't sound right. sure enough, when listened music, horrible. it's different previous problem - anti - aliasing being done fine , appears - now, music sharp , tinny. beat of song sounds nasty hurts ears. high tones way, way way emphasizes - makes listening music dreadful, painful experience. sounds every source - internal , external, every programme.
yes, have tried resetting pram , nvram. itunes equalizer off. itunes audio enhancement off. used have rubbish things hear installed deleted them , plugins. in all, had decent (but not perfect) sound quality couple of glorious weeks, i'm tedious, unlistenable, tinny garbage. hurts more cause work home , need quality music few hours day on spotify keep eyes sane.
i'm disgusted number of apple products malfunction , operate poorly. feels gamble whenever buy apple product - wondering if mine 1 of many suffer debilitating defect , cough , splutter way through short , expensive life of repairs , break downs. i'm fed it. , want music can listen to! apparently ask of wealthy , powerfulcorporation in history of world.
