hi, use external sound card (long story) happens loud. when i'm dual booting windows it's not bad because can use control panel lower volume decent level, on os x can't seem low enough volume bearable. tried apple scripts people recommended lion putting computer @ 1% volume still loud. hoping able make mac output @ lower standard minimum volume.
until i've been adjusting individual volumes on programs, that's starting annoying.

edit: never mind! found can fine tune audio settings in audio midi setup app in utilities folder of applications. while wasn't able make go low wanted, it's bearable now.
