iTunes store 1080p video won't play on iPad 2

when itunes 10.6 released last week, set video download format 1080p (up old 720p-only option).

yesterday, machine automatically downloaded new episode of walking dead in 1080p (and whatever reason haven't been getting sd versions of last several episodes).

anyway, today after syncing ipad, itunes tells me ipad 2 cannot play video format. really?

what's point of apple selling 1080p if ipad 2 and, presumably, iphone can't play them? haven't tried on apple tv version 2, either, have no idea if it'll play there, either.

i'm aware ipad 2 doesn't have resolution play 1080p @ full res, should @ least able downscale. wrong???

 

i think you're supposed buy new ipad. believe apple's master plan world domination...
