i3 27" imac & HP office jet pro problems

ok have i3 27" imac & hp office jet pro 8500a, printer has been working fine since software drivers installed 6 weeks ago.

hp printer 1 of in 1 type eg print, scan , fax
, has wireless (which least of problems) anyway afew weeks ago scan function no longer works via printer driver or via image capture. error messeage comes saying can not connect scanner. far know nothing has changed on mac or printer in last 2 weeks, don't understand why no longer have ablity scan via hp office jet pro.

hp office jet can still scan , save scan via usb key on printer, want function able scan via mac.
printer can scan using ipad , other pc's, don't think problem printer.

i've notice upon start of imac along outlook opening, microsoft rdc app opening stating wants connect server , way can rid of closing rdc app down or force quiting app. not sure if rdc app has scanner function not working via mac???

imac running 10.6.8 , firmware on hp uptodate.
can me?
should possibly delete hp drivers/software , install again?
i've tried setting new user profile, still can't scan via hp.
