apple issued media alert indicating holding conference call on monday, march 19th @ 6 a.m. pdt/9 a.m. edt. conference call "announce outcome of company's discussions concerning cash balance."as of q1 2012 results, apple had $96.7 billion in cash , marketable securities, $16 billion prior quarter.
apple's growing stockpile of cash reserves has been subject of speculation. when questioned during q1 2012 results, cook said apple "actively discussing" uses of cash balance , "not letting burn hole in our pocket."
