this having me rip hair out.
starting basics:
mac os x 10.6.8
13" macbook pro bought in april 2010
headset had been fine. has 2 audio jacks, 1 input other output, got imic work , it's been flawless. until now.
experiences problem in skype, mumble, checked problem in vocaroo , garageband.
here's sounds like.
amount of static bearable, in skype conversations, people tell me becomes ear-splitting 10 minutes call.
thought, oh, broke mic.
test headset+imic on dad's desktop: no problem. wait, what?
, measure, checked new imic sister bought --> still problem --> not imic
repaired disk [holding c on restart , choosing disk utility , repair disk] --> still problem
have run built-in hardware test [holding t @ restart] both short 1 , long one, , no problems detected.
problem exists on both mac side , pc[xp] side [i have bootcamp installed].
internal mic:
i unchecked 'use ambient noise reduction'
this time checked [chris matthews in background
]
go tekserve @ nyc, works fine there. derp. tell me it's internet connection @ home /i'm picking feedback.
try...
plugged ethernet cable computer --> still problem --> not slow internet [my ethernet 2mb/sec]
checked headset+my-imic dad's desktop , sister's laptop same spot --> works fine --> not feedback
tried computer , headset+imic multiple spots around house; different rooms, in floor below. --> still problem --> not feedback
has got me good. i'm @ real loss here. i'm thinking making account on computer , trying there?
noticed: everytime plug in mic starts @ 0% input volume. sign of corrupted sound preference?
the audio chipset on computer picking static interference power source. isn't can fixed.
have same issue , purchased usb sound card , fixes issue.
