the sydney morning herald reports australian regulators taking action address "misleading" marketing claims regarding new ipad, australian competition , consumer commission (accc) announcing pursue injunctions, fines , other remedies in case. issue stems apple's use of "4g" in marketing terms cellular-capable models of new ipad, while 4g lte compatibility only offered in united states , canada due differences in frequency bands used lte in different countries.

apple has added fine print in several places on website clarify lte connectivity not available in countries, accc feels step insufficient , company should cease using "4g" term in association ipad in countries device incompatible lte networks.
