i'm not audio snob, put pretty decent configuration. listen types of music.
i've got eye on peachtree dac it, i'm not sure how i'd able integrate headphone port/controls.

one thing learned if don't have proper environment listen in, expensive speakers waste. want acoustics, monitor placement, electrical isolation (low hum) etc. once you've got that, flat frequency response preferable imho when picking out dac's, speakers, amps etc. (2nd order hd sounds pleasing, it's not artist intended). liked event 20/20's, , friends tannoys.
grado rs2i's if you're upgrading headphones. cheapest of high end, , nice hear.
sound card must. want nice dac's , multichannel, can setup various speakers , headphones easily, plus have volume pots headphones. though i'd trim headphone pot match listening level on monitors, leave alone (alt. feed headphone amp , adj. low noise , maximum headroom). can use applications volume control (which can control ir remote, or possibly midi) adjust needed. choices interfaces: rme or apogee if have cash; many studios use record music you're listening on anyway.
novation makes midi keyboards. if you're pads on keyboards, akai not bad. cannot stand m-audio keys.
subs. bigger better. had big ben 18" sub (for bass players), , kick in chest @ ~450w. of them distort. ported subs tend deeper/louder , muddier, stuff you're more interested in feeling being accurate. don't see point in small 10" 100w subs, don't move enough air.
