15" 2011 MBP gaming w/ external monitor

hey of out there game 15" mbp use external monitor? kind of games play , how frame rates on 1080p resolution?

basically, had base 2011 21.5" imac 6750m w/ 512mb , playing bf3, dragon age, skyrim, witcher 2, cs, , other various games bootcamp. games ran fine @ full resolution @ high tweaked settings. had rid of imac various reasons couple months ago , need main computer again. instead of building separate pc rig gaming , having mac other daily needs, i'd keep on 1 machine, , on apple machine. around $1750 can refurbished february 2011 15" mbp 6750m w/ 1gb. give me portability workhorse, , can paired external monitor gaming. know 6750m 512mb in imac had no problem playing games don't see why mbp 1gb would. having mbp push 1080p external monitor make perform worse?

know new mbps may right around corner in reality may lose things (upgradability, superdrive, dedicated graphics, etc); or may not. no 1 knows. 1 thing though: stay around same price points. don't want spend on $2200 next gen high end mbp when can last years model $1750.

have fiddled idea of having desktop , ipad mobile i'm positive i'll returning ipad. don't need enough justify cost. it's luxury item. also, lot of writing , it's kind of annoying on ipad.

1080 low-mid fine bf3 , skyrim.
