we've been having major issues firewire 800 port on our purchased imac 27" (with thunderbolt).
while noticed firewire 800 port rather flakey, dropping connections here , there. it's consistant - set sort of transfer transfer begins , after 1.5 gb or have been coppied drives start spinning strangely , "did not eject" warning appears.
several drives, of work fine other macpros/macbook pros in office. these drives fine usb it's not firewire on drives themselves. seems particualrly bad drives bus powered.
tried several different cables , know thats not issue either. problem still persists.
media studio specializing in broadcast , design , computer used predominantly video editing means transfer lot of our large files via firewire 800, not working puts serious kink in our workflow.
else noticing issue these recent imac 27" (which i've heard feature whole host of issues)? know how can in touch directly apple?
fw800 not seem reliable mounting , unmounting compared usb personal experience.
