Iphone 3gs no service

hi bought 3s other day , today put gophone sim , added 50 account on phone. when have sim card in says no service. i've jailbroken phone have not unlocked , dont have regular gophone went , got sim at&t store. need unlocked?? i'm kinda bummed out isn't working please help...
