Powerpoint video problems

hello all,

i'm having issues inserting movie files (3 x .mp4 & 1 x .mov) powerpoint presentation (latest version of office mac).

insert files, , 4 play fine. however, when save , close presentation, re-open it, 4 movies appear have turned pictures - instead of format movie menu, format picture menu (screenshot below). i've tried opening presentation on pc - same thing.

advice / immensely appreciated i'm on 2009 mac book, running 10.6.8. thanks!

 

i did quick test .mov file, , if save project .pptx file, works fine. if save old-school .ppt file, poster image , no video. explicitly warned me features of file weren't supported in format when tried save .ppt, i'm guessing checked "don't show message again" box @ point in past, didn't warning.

if select "compatibility report" view menu, tell problem(s) might current document. in case of presentation video in it, quote:

audio or movies embedded in presentation converted pictures when file saved in earlier format, such .ppt, .pot, or .pps.

so option, seem, .pptx file. i'm positive earlier versions supported .ppt, presumably removed ability 2011 mac.

[edit: yep, powerpoint 2008 can save .ppt movie, although notably doesn't embed video file within .ppt, won't transfer well, , seem remember there being cross-platform problems video-embeds on windows. .pptx, in contrast, contains whole video, it's huge file, robust in terms of copying computer.]
