Old residue under screen protector?

i put on new protector bc old 1 anti glare , grainy. love new 1 there residue old protector, under new one, @ left edge of screen. thinking picking screen tape, , wiping screen cleaning cloth remove residue. mould work, or make worse? (this same protector posted in other thread, have found issue, residue)

 

should work, use microfiber cloth don't leave lint behind.
