iMessage Mac - Which ID?

so here's question. have apple id , me id icloud. know apple considers me id apple id. can use me id imessage or should stick apple id? little confused right now. want use me id can't change apple id me id because won't allow it. stupid.

should use prevent confusion , such?

 

both work can attribute 1 apple id account. if attempt add email that's used in apple id system balk.

chose email people know , use contact me.
