Mac Spyware from Google?

hey have puzzling question. have macbook pro running on mac os x has internet through twc's road runner. few days ago, received message road runner stating bancos virus had been detected on machine. after looking virus, realized it's window's virus wouldn't make sense running on mac. week before receiving message, however, noticed weird google. every once in while when did search in google , clicked on link, redirected several other sites. have out of these sites, original google page, click on link again, , page wanted. wouldn't happen every search or every link, every once in while, google.

scanned mac using macscan , sophos mac av. both came clean. reset safari, , deleted cookies, both of seemed while redirecting start again. looked @ dns ip addresses, both in gray , legit, , looked @ "all processes" in activity monitor. checked names of processes, , seem legit. redirect still continuing every once in while though.

downloaded , installed glimmerblocker has helped immensely. redirect has stopped , mac's speed has noticeably improved. did test run of several searches in google see if redirected, glimmerblocker running. wasn't redirected looked @ glimmerblocker history see if blocked. there huge list of blocks including ad.doubleclick.net, adserver1, ads.adbrite, ad.yieldmanager, images.intellitxt, adlog.com, , bullseye.backbeatmedia.

i'm wondering if there's spyware hiding inside mac or if there's going on google. again, doesn't happen other search engine or site. if there in mac i'd kill it, not block it. or advice appreciated. thanks!

check dns settings reading: why being redirected other sites?
sophos should avoided, increase mac's vulnerability, described here , here.

don't need 3rd party antivirus app keep mac malware-free. macs not immune malware, no true viruses exist in wild can run on mac os x, , there never have been since released on 10 years ago. cannot infect mac visiting website, unzipping file, opening email attachment or joining network. malware in wild can affect mac os x handful of trojans, cannot infect mac unless actively install them, , can avoided basic education, common sense , care in software install. also, mac os x snow leopard , lion have anti-malware protection built in, further reducing need 3rd party antivirus apps.

there no mac os x spyware in wild.
