single partitioned hard drive issues

hello, have small problem.
i'm trying install windows on mac ( bootcamp) error need single partitioned disk. ok, go "disk utility" , try change it, see "partition layout" locked. have clear data ? ( , how? ), can make single partitioned then? , how ?

do have current backups or external hdd clone mac os x onto?
because mac os x wants that, start installation medium (restore dvd or recovery partition) , format internal hdd , reinstall mac os x, there not enough continuous space bca make partition of.
can circumvent cloning internal hdd external hdd, boot that, erasing internal hdd, cloning onto it, booting , run bca again.
