Lost HD Space

i have deleted virtual machine dragging trash. after emptying trash finder showed free space increasing right amount (18 gb) reverted previous availability. when run view finder or omnidisksweeper total sum of files 18 gb less overall total should suggesting there file/folder of amount can't see after have set folder display hidden files. suggestions? i've tried restore previous 'not enough space' message. suggestions on should do?

i'm running lion , regretting it...........

find out, hard drive capacity being used, can use following free applications:

• diskinventory x
• omnidisksweeper
• jdisk report
• grandperspective

maybe try combination of several, if still can't find "missing" capacity.
