Best Practice for Cloning HDD for new SSD


hey guys,
i've got new crucial m4 ssd today. want clone current 250mb hdd , restore new crucial ssd. believe carbon copy cloner (ccc) piece of software accomplish this.

can tell me best way effectively? main drive in macbook pro. clone external hdd (like wd book first)?

wondering best steps take. help!

if have enclosure ssd can clone straight if no enclosure yes clone external make sure external formatted guid partition table once you've cloned hhd external test can boot it, leave plugged in , restart mac when hear chime hold option should see external in boot choices, if can boot osx test opening apps see if clone total success. if turn off mac swap ssd hhd again boot off external , format newly inserted ssd guid , os journaled ccc pick external source ssd taget , chose restore option in ccc once complete make sure ssd boot disk , restart
