No sound from MacBook Pro

the internal speakers macbook pro aren't working. can sound when plug in usb headphones when unplug them, speakers won't work. should do?

 

remove 3.5 mm plug use connect headphones mac mac's audio out port, , see, if there red light. if so, repeatedly plug , unplug 3.5 mm connector until light goes away, red light indicator of digital, optical audio out being enabled, , gets stuck.
