want upgrade gpu flagship gpu nividia or ati general use (playing games dx 11). right best gpu works in mac 5870 not going it, because looking latest model.
best performing gpu can use them in mac pro 2009? , ati 7000 fit in mac pro 2009?
since know there's nothing better 5870 on mac side, gather talking windows compatible cards.
in case, fit. you'll need adapter cables additional power sockets.
if want use windows card , os x card alongside each other, you'll need additional psu, either internal or external.
