Strange, Very Strange Trackpad Issue

just bought macbook air. 5 days later, strange problem trackpad surfaces. won't allow me "click" anymore. weirdly, of other functions still working :

- scrolling still works;
- 2 finger tap sill brings contextual menu;
- gestures work fine.

works, except single important function : clicking!!! neither clicking nor single finger tapping work.

tried plugging in wired apple mouse. no avail : can control cursor, clicking won't work!

tried resetting system management controller (smc), pram , nvram. didn't either.

has idea how might resolve such issue?

check click speed. saw happen before , click speed high no 1 able click fast enough.
