Thoughts on a New MacBook

hi all,

i'm considering buying october 2011 macbook pro 15, high end 1 , wanted thoughts. college student in information technology major. have white 2007 macbook , more due upgrade still works fine.

macbook specs:
2.0 core2duo
4gb ram
160gb hdd
superdrive

wondering 2 things:
first, performance upgrade 2.4 quad i7 substantial difference? if 15, plan on upgrading 8gb ram.

second,
should computer or wait "newer" ivy bridge macbook pros. education discount , else, can pro around $1900.

maybe have here see, if update substantial enough you.

ib bit better, faster , shebang, don't know computational needs, can't say, buy , buy that, because better these, , on.
