Looking for informed advice re: performance of iMac and Mac Mini, etc.

all:

in pleasant position of having top bottom options on new computer purchase. have read articles , forum posts regarding performance, leave me scratching head. point:

want computer best run business productivity apps (pages, numbers, etc.) rips movies , music, , act server small business (access server outside come in spurts).

need dedicated server (for believe mini server 256gb ssd , 750gb hd - happy corrected; assume ssd speed response , upload time users).

sorry of questions, entire situation bewildering. looks mm , imac best choices. appears quad core mm 16gb of ram , rev. 3, or rev. 2, ssd perform well, savings make other choice non-starter.

thoughts appreciated.

lion client computer:

questions regarding components may or may not relevant:

ssd - sata rev. 2.0 v. rev. 3.0; matter in real life?

1. not need portable computer (my ipad , iphone work in area).

2. sata rev. 3.0 speeds matter if not doing audio or video (or whatever requires 500 mb/s read and/or write)? is, difference between sata rev2 , 3 significant application responsivenesss?

3. looked @ these test results: http://marketingtactics.com/speedmark/:

a. i7quad-core imac beat contestants;

b. looks mighty, mighty mp more scared kitten roaring lion;

c. i7 2.7 ghz dual core mm ssd stomps, kicks, , kills;

d. dual core mm outperformed mighty, mighty i7 2.2ghz quad core mbp.

e. stunningly, having scored 218 in speedmark 7, mm (1) beats mbp (207) , comes within 1 point of 2.8ghz quad core mp!

wtf? mighty, mighty mac mini? what quad-core server version, w/ 16gb of ram , ssd do? such thing outperform mbp , mp hd0(s)?

confused. mm's ssd presumably sata rev. 2 256gb offered apple. if so, sata rev. 3 result in disproportionate increase in performance rev. 2.0?

of note: mm did in things pages '09 import , parallels worldbench 6 (kept pace mbp , outperformed mp). in fact, mp scored abysmally there.

assuming 16gb ram:

1. quad core mp non-starter other cpu intensive tasks? or unfairly handicapped 3gb ram limitation? ssd matter?

2. i7 3.1ghz imac rev. 3 ssd show proportionate (100%) increase in performance on rev. 2 ssd imac (clearly outperform of other computers)?

3. quad-core mm (with rev. 3 ssd - since easy install) outperform or @ least keep pace imac rev. 2 ssd?

advice, if able offer any. p-504

pretty simple. post in correct forum. also, way thought. go everymac.com , check benchmarks various models , enlighten you. apple ssd's slower 3rd party. rev a, b, c, whatever.
faster hdd. more ram better , i7 better 15 , i3. simple.
