hello,
bought new imac, smallest size of 27" screens. have put lightroom , copied catalog , worked fine when using external drive (that formatted pc). discovered wasn't able delete or move external drive files when using imac. read because formatted in ntsf. have formatted external journaled mac (os? can't remember now). did not choose case sensitive choice.
anyways, before cleared external put folders photos on new imac desktop(temporarily). start copy photos on external drive. copies while, , stop , "can't copy file, in use now(wording might not exact, basic message). stops entire batch of folders copying, though mentions 1 photo being in use. then, if try copy external, message (an unexpected error has occurred code 50).
have tried reformatting external 3 times , staring over, each time copies near same spot, , problem starts again. if reboot computer, has allowed me copy few photos (maybe 20-100) , problem starts again. when go external , @ info, says read , write bottom of window. sorry make post long, maybe having info help. takes time answer!
is other 27" 
sounds file copied internal hd ended either read-only, or permissions set incorrectly. try isolate offending file , opening read/write permissions before copy it. don't think problem external drive.
