Monitor or TV for Movies

hi,

i've been researching few days , still undecided, considering of options out there. if me out appreciated.

older couple friends entrusted me choosing led monitor or television them, , want make best choice. not tech savvy @ all, , going internet service. want watch movies, netflix or dvd or blu ray player, want option of using monitor/tv external computer monitor connected laptop, 17" macbook pro, older 1 think, has full size dvi port on it. want mount on wall 6 feet side of bed, or put on tv stand @ foot of bed. insistent should led, want energy efficient. if it's tv, think 1080 p best. want them have great picture when watch movies.

want around 27", although might consider 32". @ first wanted television, husband ordered 27" samsung monitor, s27a550h, @ $330.

returned monitor because person whom spoke @ samsung said drivers download not compatible macs, , not guarantee monitor not have problems macs, , reading accounts online, seemed mac users experiencing bugs it. didn't want them pulling hair out on it. reviews spoke of base being flimsy , not adjustable angle pointing down. couple has big energetic lab tail whacks everything, think stable product good, , wife recuperating 2 broken legs, want pretty adjustable/and or has viewing angles doesn't have move on place watch comfortably.

understand, tv's, hi-def ones have lower resolution monitors, movie won't have more information contained in shown in 1080p tv, not more 1080p necessary movie watching, lacking computer use. correct? getting monitor more versatile, allowing them watch movies , possibly use computer? there drawback using monitor instead of tv, mounted 6ft away watch movies? televisions have better viewing angles monitors in general?

there screen aspect ratio, of don't understanding yet. also, if want watch 3d?

here of products i've been considering:

sharp lc-26sv490u 26" led tv 1080p $249 free shipping. seems 26" tv find 1080p. reviews consistent in saying speakers inadequate, it's price allow getting decent computer speakers, think want monitor, since movies watching primary activity. 27" monitor @ price if there one, better choice?
