Clarification needed

as always, in advance.
playing bindings.
"test" app consists of user interface slider , textfield.
slider , textfield "values" bound via objectcontroller model property ( in case float).
app works expected, changing slider values reflected in textfield , change textfield value ( user) changing value of slider. , nslog statement shows model value reflects these values., expected.

now, wish persist user state on quitting application, , see if understand bindings, wish implement nsuserdefault bindings. far, easy bind interface controls nsuserdefaults via bindings in ib, of course not include model in loop. so, question this.
bindings "wrong" way do...in other words, want approach maintain model-view bindings, "persist" model-default paradigm saves user's last used values. perhaps bindings not correct approach, little have used, sure cuts down on lot of glue-code (with respect model-view code).
hope makes sense.
