Importing video from camcorder to iMovie on aMBP

help! want transfer several home videos several different camcorders imovie on macbook pro. problem is: none of camcorders have firewire port. have usb ports. can still somehow these videos imovie and, if so, how? tech skills low, please don't hesitate detailed. (are there adaptors can use "fit" firewire usb port on camera?) thanks.

 

some information needed, camera model? version of imovie?
