Hard drive going dead?


system:

mid-2009 macbook pro 13" unibody, 2.53ghz, 4gb ram, 250gb 5400rpm hdd

problem:

recently, has become very sluggish in aspects. beach ball shows clicks basic "about mac" quitting application. happens in every application can find. startup can take minutes whereas used take seconds. has frozen couple of times @ startup requiring hard reboot respond.

troubleshooting performed:

cleared nvram, etc.
created new profile.
verified/repaired permissions , verified/repaired disk
re-installed os
zeroed drive , re-installed os again
ran apple hardware test , found no problems s.m.a.r.t. status good, apparently.

it's still slow.

example of happened, had opened safari , page loaded. clicked on history , didn't respond, beach ball appeared 3-5 seconds, , started responding again.

happening every , wouldn't kill me, fact it's happening 30-50% of clicks killing me.

not app specific, not fixed os re-install, slow slow slow!

hdd going bad, though aht showed no issues?
 

this problems show hdd bad.

ps. if had problem , came here made thread did(listing out everything), lot easier!
