craig federighi responsible os x since senior vice president bertrand serlet's left. per article, reports directly ceo, not senior vice president. (his title vice president of os x software, per lion introduction video.)

i'm not sure apple's policy assigning executive-level title. guess that, since reports directly ceo, has many opportunities "fight for" projects svps, not have years of service, or time in job, or whatever apple requires qualify svp title (and paycheck.)

on other hand, it's telling apple not feel need hire or reassign svp role. again, that's impression , worth you're paying it.
