hi all,
need advice backup option.
current setup have following:
- imac itunes , aperture (these 2 app 200gb)
- imac backed via time capsule 1tb
- time capsule has 3tb wd mybook attached hold movies, executables, iso's etc
- want have more security around music, aperture - , personal documents around 300gb. tc can - not when becomes crucial (theft, fire, etc).
more security me means, external place (physically) store these data. 2 options see are:
- onlline backup ($$$ - pricy (and slow))
- external disk copy - lets every month, , take drawer @ work
.
- there 3rd option me?
risk based approach recognized loosing movies not fatal (although extremely annoying).
loosing music , pictures , personal documents fatal though.
think - buy 1tb external disk office drawer? do?
thanks!
one thing sure no matter how many options use, can never eliminate risk. can minimize it, there still can (not will) go wrong.
having said that, additional external wouldn't bad idea. personally, have 2 hard drives set raid 1 means 1 hard drive mirrored one, , when copy or delete stuff, other hard drive automatically modified. in situation, if both hard drives crap out, **** hits fan. it's improbable, not impossible.
not trying discourage you, want make sure you're aware.
