Sending SMS Texts from a connected PC

hi,

here know if it's possible send sms texts through iphone pc it's connected to?

i've had windows mobile phones since first came out , i'm not sure whether upgrade new windows phone (which entirely different) or switch else iphone or android. i've been using girlfriend's old iphone 3g see how (she has new 4gs).

windows mobile used app on pc called jeyo connector controlled many aspects of phone, including sending/receiving sms. if new message came in, pop on pc im, , type reply on pc. sms sent phone, had same caller id sender expecting. other threads i've read elsewhere, seems other makes of phone have, or had, similar solutions (e.g. nokia).

of solutions i've seen far iphone work have drawbacks. google voice or sending email phone's sms email address means sender won't see caller id expecting (and can't reply it). using providers website (e.g. at&t) works have go website, log in, type recipients phone number, before can start typing text.

basically, i'm looking way send, receive , reply texts (through iphone) when i'm sitting @ desk full-size keyboard in front of me (so don't have type on iphone screen). i'm surprised there aren't more people asking this, , why solution doesn't seem exist, i'm wondering if i'm missing obvious.

ideas?

thanks!
