Iphone 3g Jailbroken Wont even boot help :(

hey everyone, im in usaf , getting deployed, got iphone 3g (he said 3gs im not sure) friend today , jailbroken, dont know means, plugged computer, updated it.. , not working @ all. other friend person jailbroke came over, after several hours got work using snowbreeze redsnow , green poison. got work, 5 minutes later shut off, , cant show apple symbal now. itunes says in recovery mode, no matter how long hold power/hold button (trust me tried 100 times) wont dfu mode or anything, black screen. want figure out how this, whos d@** genius these things, please me out, need ipod when deployed!!! doesn't have sim card in it, friend said can still use ipod. please if awake , have time try , walk me through this, night trying fix
