Help! my Macbook is dying

... think dying.

problem:
1) when start photoshop or quark either crash or 'cannt save because of disk error" message.

2) 250gb hard drive of used except 2.4gb, disk space gone? files account approx 50gb.

ive triid disk utility "repair disk" button greyed out.

suggestions?

running osx 10.6.8

i download onyx , run see if can clean out unnecessary files.
