Why doesn't the camera app have a timer?

i know can download 3rd party apps whole host of photography goodness ... basic timer .... why isn't in camera app?

 

as seen other big ios updates apple, seems gets crazy popular in app store (thats not game) recreated them or added there existing apps time goes on. i.e reminders, apple trailers , other add ons existing apps i'm sure seen in future. agree though have preferred timer instead of hdr business.
