Streaming and Connection advice - UK

i want connect small flat can use device want, anywhere, reliably.

mba runs , connects wireless router next pc in living room, signal poor - keep dropping out. intend keep pc, @ least while ( £££ ) , have common uk broadband setup signal comes down twisted pair telephone cable proprietary router / modem, netgear n150 orange, usb-plugged pc.

@ least of system software , setup has stored / done on pc, when setup , running can connect wirelessly mba while pc off, , have cabled network links tv , on.

i'm sure airport express , put network lead proprietary router, use better wireless signal @ mba when i'm using remotely, i'd rather use airport express or extreme , try rid of proprietary router, view network cabling in living room , getting decent wireless connection through rest of flat.

thoughts? - buy express , hard wire ( apple store 1 mile away , has couple of dozen on shelf ... ) or have experience setting express / extreme take place of proprietary router.

if having trouble signal strength in rooms close by, 1 simple thing can put new airport express high possible - on top of bookcase, or if ceiling made of plasterboard or thin ceiling tiles put in roofspace / cavity remove problems created thick walls long stop @ ceiling.

also, uk residential buildings have thin 15mm conduits in walls tv points. can 2 thick aerial cables , 2 ethernet cables down each these. works if have router , switch in roofspace. can buy open face plates brushed opening replace tv aerial socket can bring 4 cables through in room. give great wifi , tidy wired network without lot of expense.

secret getting cables down these conduits pull existing cables top , group 4 cable , feed them down conduit together. never manage push final cable down tight conduit has few cables. have put rj45 connectors , coax plugs on after pull leads through face plate simple plenty of instructions online.

still need use modem part of old router or buy better one.
