q's about Verizon on a no-commitment iPad plan

i leaning towards getting verizon ipad on at&t. using prepaid plan, occasionally, turning on when travel.
maybe of have verizon on no-commitment plan can me out:

(1) easy ipad, without having deal customer service people? assuming use @ least every 5 months, i've heard necessary sim card doesn't de-activated.
(2) if service hasn't been activated while, 30 day plan start time turn on? i'm worried if time period fixed (it goes mar. 17 - apr. 16, example), wouldn't stuck pro-rated plan depending on day in it's activated.
(3) if go on data allotment, happens? can 'start' new month right there? credit card automatically charged or prompted authorize new charges?

much! iphone has been on at&t's post-paid plan, (and have been super-easy deal through web site , iphone app), new territory me.

i ot know these answers....
