Macbook for iPad/iMac?

hi, have macbook pro 13" late 2011 main computer, , wondering not portable hoped (for class , that) should change 21" imac , ipad 3 on release?
ipad cannot used full computer obvious reasons , need have powerful multimedia editting device when go uni etc. however, have 1.5 years left of grammar school before uni, smart swap out mpb imac & ipad?

please give me pro's , con's of each.

also, ipads recording notes? if so, application doing let me record both text , draw on (maths equations etc)
