iPhone won't go into DFU mode? :S

i need iphone go dfu mode because upgraded 4.2.1 , ipad baseband it's stuck on apple logo.

problem phone won't turn off no matter how many times press home & sleep button. , since wont turn off, cant put dfu mode. :s dont know how fix this. has else had issue?

hold top (power) button 10 seconds, while still holding power button, push home button , hold both buttons additional 20 seconds. should ya.
