GoPro2 vs other small cameras

i going filming series of car chase scenes short making.
have suction cup mounts attach couple of cars.
thinking gopro2 @ $350, doesn't quite grab me.

suggestions cheaper camera? able install 3 cameras on 2 cars.

thinking flip or if falls of , gets ran over... meh.

looking @ least 720p work t2i footage.

 

i know folks rave canon sx230. it's around 200 bucks.
