Going from PC to the cloud

before begin, i'd consider myself capable when comes using computers.

have 'synced' itunes. ever since ios 5.0 have used cloud devices , keep them in sync.

it's worked months. iphone , mac have not seen each other since.

today, wanted add new ringtone iphone, still has done on pc or mac. created new ringtone, highlighted iphone's tab on left of itunes, selected sync ringtones , hit sync.

happened point on has been confusing hours of life.

itunes, began making copies of apps have installed since plugged phone in, fair enough thought. kind of makes sense.

removed these new apps device , proceeded stick loads of old apps in place.

happened in random way, can assume @ apple has spun around 15 times , pointed @ first 30 apps see.

realised, not syncing ringtones, syncing everything, music, video, books, etc.

cancelled sync, slow , awkward task. when lightbulb came on in head. unchecked sync apps, sync music, sync video etc, because use cloud don't need deal pc anymore, itunes match out now.

after unchecking these options, hit sync , ready experience phone in pc free glory. not quite yet itunes informed me...

"not syncing stuff delete device, want continue?"

wait? what? want go cloud, don't want sync anymore.... don't want delete apps either... having apps , settings how are! why hate me?

second lightbulb went off in head.... allow delete content, , restore icloud up. , when has taken care of itself, device can stand tall on own, no link pc. i've unchecked boxes after all!

i'll living dream, can out of house, can see friends again.... it's going on , have won!

icloud backup goes without hitch, , think how, if should ever have restore cloud real, slick process. so, have phone in hand, in same great shape morning.

next, new ringtone on device.... no longer showing in devices on wifi connection, looks promising. plug mac usb cable , close eyes.

iphone shows , looks well. check sync settings, , yep, checked, everything. ringtones, video's books, apps.

has me in checkmate. press sync button mac dares me. see happens.

i'm screwed.

remember when used able manually manage music , video, before itunes match. can manually manage video.

hope lot smarter reads this, , can me.

i'm totally stumped.

suppose 1 question is, how can ringtone onto iphone without messing else up?

is, how cut ties mac without messing else up?

jk. though, have no idea. sorry. got iphone set way wanted it, avoid syncing itunes plague until new ios feature want comes out.
