External Speakers

i'm running os x 10.4.11 on imac 24". used onyx clear hd space , since external speakers won't work. internal speaker fine , externals live , working (i've tried them on m/c). when @ system preferences > sound there internal speakers option (i'm sure there external option previously). has been deleted? if can tel me , if can restore or download it?

 

what scripts did run in onyx? should able option back:


find audio midi setup in utilities folder, on left hand side there should built-in output. select , use gearwheel @ bottom of panel make sure says "use device sound output". hope works you. having problems getting external speakers work after lion upgrade, should work internal speakers ok.

if built-in output not appear in left hand column, use plus sign @ bottom , see if finds you. let me know how on.
