Display Mirroring

upgraded ipad 1g , surprised find video mirroring apparently automatic , can't turned off when using vga connector projector. preferred having dark screen projected until started keynote presentation. thought mirroring optional can't find way turn off.

also, screen ratio off on projected image. appears showing @ 16:9 instead of 4:3. can set somewhere? of worked on ipad 1!
