MS Office 2008 slow and crashing?

i have office 2008 (and not going upgrade now), takes minute load on 2010 macbook pro 13". if try open of apps, double clicking file, launch app, , crash. have updated later version: 12.3.2.

seems corrupted somewhere, there can clean install , make more stable , speed little?

should dump preferences? if ones? there built in repair feature? advice help.
