External HD Troubleshooting

so library expands, i've decided external hd storage of itunes files (music, tv shows, movies, etc.)

picked 2 tb seagate external hd. plugged in , went format it. have no problems formatting disk ms-dos (fat) reason when try format mac os extended brings error message saying "the underlying task reported failure on exit" , disk won't mount.

else run problem before? - there limitations fat format other limit of 4 gb on file size should aware of, since it's looking might have go format?

 

ended returning , buying western digital. seems there lot of people have problems new seagate drives on mac.

i've had luck seagate in past fyi - new ones don't work macs.
