Hard decision...

hi folks,

i'm waiting next generation of mac computers (ivy bridge) first mac ever.

though, i'm stuck choosing buy. have first , main idea 27" imac have admit macbook air damn sexy device.

own iphone 4s , new ipad (wifi+4g, 64gb) have great mobility guys think should macbook air?

use main computer (tired of many painful years of windows slavery) have music, movies , ios apps. also, purchase apps mac app store. short 256gb? need macbook air if own ipad?

also, not plan on playing heavy games (only games angry birds, cut rope, etc. ) video editing. also, blogging, reading tech news, tweeting lot , bit of text editing.

think imac better because has lot of horsepower more macbook air, least longer. also, take 2tb sure have enough storage everything. bigger 27" display have more room.

so, can me that?

it depends on needs are. said, have portable devices already. however, can't run full mac operating system. if want imac, happy it, no matter what. if want air, happy. mentioned imacs more powerful. true, haven't seen big speed difference between imac , air. true, air has 1.7ghz processor, (imacs have 2.5ghz or more) system sees quad core cpu, lightning fast. think this, too- want sacrifice screen size, ports, disk drive, , power (all of on imac or mbp) ultra-portability , sexiness of air?

250gb should plenty normal person should enough. i'm rockin 120gb hd , i'm doing fine!

if aren't tight on $, consider macbook pro. come in 13, 15 , 17 inch models, , have need.

said... airs awesome , beautiful computers. love own one.

Problems with Mail

hi all

sometimes, i'm use mail connect imap account.

thing is, issue using imap isp, not gmail.... problem must isp. because pop works fine.

problem stems fact happens, usually, imap server doesn't respond, mail prompted user enter password via popup prompted (attached).

no mater do, keep coming time time. isp saying apple issue, think otherwise. tried on both ssl , 143 no solution.

removing keychain, looks workaround, doesn't take long popup come back.

"remember password" checkbox doesn't either, keeps coming up... again not imap, isp. must suggest due isp, gmail users imap , connects fine time mail.

suggestions apart using pop ?

update

update.

i've been on phone isp, , did telnet commend, testing outlook removing , re-adding mail account didn't help, i'm coming closer problem.

i've traced connection error down fact "only" happens after sending email out using imap. checking emails, time random.

in cases, telnet passed,,,, meaning isp's perspective anyway, client issue ..... mail clients ?

how can be.

he's screenshot apple mail showing again ok.

between these 2 screenshots takin, nothing altered in keychain or accounts in apple mail.. thing testing in windows.

1 other point... may have been "at split second" kind of thing. running test in outlook in windows had apple mail open. after sending via outlook, receive test mail via apple mail (noticed badge icon), not in outlook. again client issue ?? maybe, come though eventually, think "at time" kind of thing.

i've got windows 2003 server , exchange 2007 on cd , office 2007, may set on local network (within vm's) test, know why doesn't happen gmail.

update #2.. think slipped 1 place though.. not sure, when telnet test, must test on troubled port ?

eg. since send test, check , fails.... should checking receiving port (via telnet), not sending port? if so, solution.

Best CRM (Contact Relationship Management) for Real Estate Agents?

wirelessly posted

real estate agent switching pc mac (yeah!!) imac updated. crm (contact relationship management) software going invest in (top producer) not mac friendly. have suggestions?

thank you!!!

the mac options crm apps sadly lacking. best recommendation: run windows-based crm on mac installing windows via boot camp or use parallels or vmware fusion.

if don't have windows license, can use crossover run applications. not windows apps compatible crossover. check site compatible apps.

more information running windows on mac, check out windows on mac forum.

FAA Taking a 'Fresh Look' at Digital Device Use During Takeoff and Landing

u.s. federal aviation administration reexamining regulations banning use of digital devices ipad or amazon kindle during taxi, takeoff , landing of commercial aircraft. passengers banned using electronics while aircraft under 10,000 feet, pilots , crew allowed use ipads during phases of flight. important because many airlines replacing pilot flight bags ipads reduce weight , save money.

nick bilton, writing new york times:
good news some, there peculiar quirks faa's bureaucratic approval process. under current guidelines, individual tablet models need tested separately -- on each different aircraft model. ipad, ipad 2 , ipad 3 individually tested, each on separate flight, on empty plane, boeing 737, 747, 757, etc. smartphones not being considered approval, news hoping keep skies relatively quiet place.
we long ways off seeing ipads in use during takeoff , landing, fact faa willing consider changing regulations promising.
