Lion Recovery/IS THIS ALL to it?????????

i have mac mini, lion, month old. downloaded recovery assistant , followed on screen instructions , said loaded recovery disk on 8 gig thumb drive. (probably 2 minutes , see loading something) can't see on thumb drive , said not abel see it. need if have hd crash of bad happen? if need else please me out because not real computer savy. lot!!!!

plug in usb drive , rebooot computer, when hear chime sound hold option should see usb drive show in list of bootable devices let know done right
