hello all,
wondering how change settings can print in grayscale, , not use color on brother mfc-j430w.
don't tell me have go printer settings, click grayscale, , press save default, because i've tried that. next time go print, goes right default settings, color.
thanks.
colorsync utility
want use colorsync utility. launch it, find device in list of printers. change use drop down labeled current profile choose other, navigate /system/library/colorsync/profiles.
select 1 of gray profiles , click open button. try printing. may have try few different profiles until find best one. close colorsync utility. grayscale profile permanently assigned printer. colorsync utility need remain running.
luck.
alternatively, might try setting default option printer in cups instead of changing color profile. that, open safari , go following url: http://127.0.0.1:631
cups home page. cups printing subsystem in os x , other unix systems. click on administration tab of page , click on manage printers button.
somewhere in process prompted username , password. use short name (the name of home directory) , password.
click on link printer. come page printer 2 drop downs @ top: maintenance , administration. click on administration drop down , choose set default options. 1 or more links @ top of page followed options can set. find color settings , pick grayscale, click button @ bottom of page called "set default options"
have changed default permanently. while in section might set other defaults don't like.
hope helps.
