what think? should apple release ipad mini?
yes. imagining. a 7.95" tablet starting @ pricepoint of $300. in order price low, minor compromises need made. things non-retina display, inferior cameras, etc. think of ipod touch iphone.
there many groups can think of benefit smaller size, weight, , price of such ipad. , of talking technical hurdles, these minor things apple can overcome. smart company.
here few prime examples of uses smaller/cheaper ipad.
education- new textbook initiative, apple try push ipads classroom. $300 vs $500 make huge different in penetration school system. lighter , less weildly elementary school kids carry around them. screen size sufficent such small hands.
children- parents don't typically spend $500 on "toys" children. limit seems right around $300 pricepoint of video game consoles. instead of getting kid xbox christmas/birthday, ipad mini. again, small size better kids.
in business- many businesses have been implementing ipad initiatives employees. sure price help, i'm thinking size. imagine waiters taking order on ipad mini. imagine retail employees becoming mobile cashiers walking around ipad mini's check out (or order out of stock items anywhere around store). things that, smaller make them more mobile , more clipboard.
the kindle fire lovers- lot of people love kindle fire about. portable, inexpensive, reader, casual games/browsing. remember great ipad in first place? it's computer-lite. ipad-lite. people don't need ipad is. it's hard convince looking @ fire spend $300 don't need, $100 ipad name? that's do-able.
, that's beginning of possibilities... dunno, that's take. think? yes or no?
i voted larger ipad. if produced me more powerful, air-based, 13" "pro-model" running ios , os x... i'll throw down whatever ask! 7-8" no thanks, that's far close 9.7" current model.
