alright. last night, shut computer down usual. today, when tried boot up, went grey screen apple logo , spinning gear. after minute or so, went black , (i suppose) tried boot again, because replayed startup noise , went apple , spinning gear.
reset nvram, didn't help. (i know reset because speakers came louder, ahaa...)
when tried boot after that, grey screen moment, shut off completely. attempting boot safe mode resulted in same - grey logo screen + gear minute, total shut down.
next, booted leopard install disk try run disk utility. @ first wouldn't let me click repair disk - verify disk. when tried run verify disk cut out error "invalid node structure".
fiddled around bit while still booted install disk, trying gather additional information, , quite unexpectedly repair disk button showed available in disk utility after while. tried clicking that, , made valiant attempt, errored out again - time "invalid volume file count" error.
shut down , booted root disk single-user mode. when tried run fsck, here displays:
what mean, , there hope @ of fixing computer without destroying files? i've heard things diskwarrior, it's $100 , if there's other way save or force fix itself, love know! advice @ appreciated.
running on os x 10.5.8 leopard @ time. (i'm pretty sure 10.5.8 - know 10.5.somethiiiing...)
i'm means hard drive toast.
